i had asthma as a child, and frequently bronchitis to go along with it. When I was 5, I received Last Rites from a Catholic priest because I was having an attack that was so bad that my mom thought I was going to die.
So, I took a lot of cough medicine as a kid. The good stuff. Prescription cough medicine. Pretty sure it was chock full of codeine. That may even have been the brand name: Chock Full O’ Codeine(TM).
The thing is, now, as an adult, codeine only works for me for the first two or three doses. My body habituates, and I don’t even feel it any more. I don’t get drowsy, and it certainly doesn’t seem to help my cough.
Yeah, so it’s way too soon for me to be having another dose. At least, according to the label on the bottle. Stupid labels. What do they know?
I’d just like my lungs to stop feeling so twitchy so I can relax and go to sleep.
